Policies

In order for your child to enjoy a safe and educational after school experience, please make sure to review all of our policies below.

Forms

Admission
The program is open to all NEST+m students and their siblings not attending NEST+m. Alumni and children who are not currently NEST+m students may be granted admission with a teacher recommendation, if space is available. Please note that we have limited capacity.

Semesters and Hours
The program is divided into two semesters: Fall/Winter, which runs from September through January, and Winter/Spring, which runs from February through June. Please check our Calendar for specific dates.

Program hours are from 2:35pm-5:45 pm. Most classes run from 3:15pm-4:45pm unless otherwise stated. A free homework club (4:45-5:15pm) or supervised care (4:45-5:45pm) is available after regularly scheduled programs. Please see our Daily Schedule for more detailed information.

Registration/Payments
Registration is on a first come, first served basis and is only open to accounts in good standing for all programs administered by After3. Registrations will be accepted throughout the school year for classes with openings, however tuition will not be prorated.

There is variable registration/administrative fee applied to course fees;This is a one-time fee for each student, per semester. A three payment installment plan will be available during registration( administrative fee applies, once per account, per semester) and we accept most major credit cards and checks. Checks are subject to a $35 return fee.

Lateness
The last pick up is at 5:45pm. Pick ups after 5:45pm may incur a late fee of $5 per minute. The building closes promptly at 6pm. Students who haven’t been picked up by 6:15pm will be escorted to the local 7th police precinct located at 19 1/2 Pitt Street, New York, NY, 10013, (212)477-7311.

Refunds/Credits
Refunds/credits may be granted before the close of online registration. Please note a $25 processing fee may apply. No refunds/credits after the close of online registration. Registration fee is non-refundable. Refunds will not be issued for days After3 is closed, school closings and rapid dismissals. In the event that a teacher is absent, After3 will make every attempt to provide a substitute or provide supervised care, but no make-up class will be offered and no refunds/credits will be issued.

Transfers
Parents can request a transfer to a different course within the first two weeks of the program, within the same semester if space is available. No refunds will be issued if the new class requested is less expensive than the original class.  If the new class is greater than the original class the difference will be charged. Transfers after the first two weeks will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Transfers will be limited to once, per semester.

Electronics/Social Media
*Use of gaming/ portable electronic devices prohibited during structured activities; limited educational use during unstructured time
*No social media
*No inappropriate games or websites
*No photography or videotaping

Transportation
After3 bus service is provided by ARJ Transportation and is open to all students enrolled in after school. We service Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Tribeca/Battery Park and certain areas of Brooklyn. Routes are based on students enrolled on each particular day.

If you are planning on registering for after school, and also plan on using the bus option for your child’s dismissal, you need to register online by Thursday, August 17th ,2017.  After the 17th parents will need to email after3bus@gmail.com for permission to register for the bus.The buses will be operational starting the first day of the After3 Fall semester, which is Monday, September 11th, 2017.

The bus service is a set $60 fee per month, per day of use. No contract is required and you may cancel at anytime a week (7 days) prior to billing date, which is the 1st of the month. No freeze allowed. If you have a question regarding the bus please email after3bus@gmail.com. Please do not call the bus service directly for billing, payments or routes as that is provided by After3.

Dismissal
If you need to pick your child up earlier than the dismissal you signed up for at registration, please email After3nyc@gmail.com or call 1888-462-6964 no later than 4:10pm.  All early dismissal must be before 4:20pm. Parents will be allowed in the building at 4:45 pm.

Things parents should know/do:

  • Know what program your child is signed up for.
  • Sign your child out at the front desk.

Things parents should not do:

  • Do not attempt to leave without signing your child out.
  • Do not block/linger in cafeteria, hallway or on staircase, this is a FIRE HAZARD.

4:45 pm Dismissal

  • Pick this option if you plan to pick your child up between 4:45-5:30 pm and your child does not require homework club.

5:45 HWK Club Dismissal

  • Pick this option if you want your child to do homework or read quietly from 4:45 pm-5:15 pm; Students will be upstairs in homework club classrooms until 5:15 pm.
  • Program ends promptly at 5:45. Call if you’re running late! Lateness may result in a late fee.

Financial Aid

A limited amount of financial Aid is available to students who currently qualify for free or reduced lunch.

  • Students who qualify for free lunch are eligible for up to $385 in aid per semester;
  • Financial aid is on a first come first served basis and must be requested by August 22nd for the Fall/Winter Semester. Please note that review and approval can take up to 2 weeks, so we recommend early request;
  • Eligibility is determined per semester and a new request must be made each semester;
  • If a program is paid and the student is then deemed eligible, no refunds will be issued;
  • Financial aid codes must be redeemed during the semester issued;
  • Financial aid may not apply to certain courses provided by outside vendors. Please contact us for a list of eligible programs. This list is subject to change.

If you think you are eligible for financial aid,

  • You can get more information about eligibility requirements at nyc.gov/accessnyc or please contact the school’s Parent Coordinator for help obtaining a free/reduced lunch verification letter. Please note that financial aid eligibility is determined and issued solely by After3. 
  • The eligibility letter should then be scanned and emailed to After3nyc@gmail.com. for financial aid determination. During the school year, the letter can also be left in the After3 mailbox in the PTA office.
