Courses offered at After3:

Sketch Comedy , Improvisaton & Character, Wednesday (5th-8th grade)

In the zany and irreverent style of Saturday Night Live, students apply all forms of improvisation and comic technique to create original comedy sketches.  This class allows advanced actors to explore characterization, vocalization, spontaneity and physicality in a fun, non-threatening and supportive environment.  Fun-filled theater games will help students create a solid foundation for developing unique and three dimensional characters.  End of semester showcase culminates in a “students choice” of group improvisations, original sketches or solo monologue performances guaranteed to put the trained actor one-step ahead of the competition during those Performing Art High School auditions.

Storybook Theater, Monday (k-1st grade)

Our youngest actors will explore multicultural stories through puppetry, creative movement, music, visual art and dramatic play.  Students become sly tricksters, wild animals and clever heroes as they bring exciting tales to life. Our youngest actors move their bodies in new and inventive ways as they journey through each weekly adventure. Problem solving, creative expression, communication and teamwork are encouraged.  Class culminates in an end of semester performance for family and friends.

Young Actors Workshop: Crazy Characters & Theater Games, Wednesday (2-5th grade)

This energetic and popular class begins with hilarious theater games based on a variety of popular, fun and effective acting techniques.  Before you know it, students are performing long form and short form improvisation, playing intricate group building exercises, while mastering intermediate acting techniques and warm up rituals.  A friendly, low-key introduction to theater.   At semesters end, students will perform a wide variety of improvised exercises, group theater games and original characters & sketches.
